Tempted to go for one of these myself. I have a ss brewbucket that i am very happy with Like the idea of pressure transfer and yeast harvesting, adding Purged hops with minimal oxygen pick up also appeals.

i am a bit confused though. As far as I can make out fermzilla is problematic and the snub nosed fermentersauruas seemed the consensus here. I haveNot seen any mention of the fermentasaura second gen, though? This lets you harvest yeast etc but does it suffer the same issues as the fermzilla, because of this?

The Fermzilla all-rounder and Fermentasaurus snub nose are popular and seem to have few problems. I personally have a Fermzilla (with collection container) and wouldn't be without it. There are hundreds (if not thousands) of happy users and the majority of the failures that have been posted on here have been when it has been used incorrectly.

problem is, I’m quite likely to be one of those people that use it uninteninlly incorrectly as some stage. The gen 3 model looks good and seems to be fail safe, plus you can drop hops in and has a thermowall. Will likely go for that

Unfortunately I don't think there is such a thing as failsafe with any of these plastic pressure fermenters. They are good value for money, but there is always going to be issues.

I'm not interested in fermenting under pressure and quelle surprise I've had no issues with leaks etc.

Excluding fermenting under pressure there is also the Speidel Kellermeister 30 Litre Kellermeister - Get Er Brewed. It's kinda very different though.

I have a sauraus myself, with collection bottle. As I mentioned, no plans to ferment under pressure, and don't have a ferm fridge, so suits me fine.

Is it massively important to keep the fermenting beer at a specific psi? I could only get my hands on the lesser of the two common types of pressure relief valves. It isn't great. It seems to have only two settings, shut or constantly leaking. I set it at 10 psi on Friday morning and when I returned today, the gauge had gone off the scale (although it does only go to 15psi). But I read it wrong and thought it was empty, so I blasted the sauraus with c02 set at 12 psi and it shot up to about 20 psi.

Will this have a hugely negative impact on the beer? ATM it seems to be holding steady at 9 psi.

I don’t think it does. I’ve had mine go up towards 20psi but usually keep it about 10.

I drop it to zero to dry hop and haven’t had any off flavours

It’ll just carbonate the beer so be careful if you dry hop it as it will rise quicker than you think if you open it up.

Yeah, I purged it before dry hopping earlier today. Took ages to vent using the prv. Last I checked, it was still at 9 psi. We shall see in the morning what has happened.

Reet, the psi was at 10 this morning, meaning the spunding valve is not doing what it should. However it is still at 10 psi now so I am not too concerned. Although it is probably holding kinda steady because fermentation has died down somewhat since the weekend.

I shall be investing in a blow tie or diaphragm valve. Faffing around with this is very annoying.

Before I buy one, does anyone have any suggestions as to which pressure relief valve I should buy? The one I have is winding me up. I am thinking of getting the keg land blow tie but then isn't keg land the company that makes the fermzilla? Are their relief valves as sturdy as their fermenters aren't (going by the amount of photos of broken ones)?

Maybe see if Keg King has an equivalent product made in Australia?

Keg King are releasing another keg/fermenter 30 litres, ideal for those brewing 21/23 litres this one has been christened the 'Chubby'
The Keg King Junior has been selling well in Sweden container hasn't arrived yet and over 300 sold pre order.

The pressure relief valve I used to use is this one, we did a bulk buy and they were $5 US each.

The Blowtie is really just a bog standard in line regulator with a handle, don't know how much you are being charged in UK but they are cheap here, you can also but inline regulators that are preset I have one which is set at 8 PSI and it is spot on.
If you go with a diaphragm type, or poppet, best to put a receiver before the CO2 gets to them or the gauge.

any user feedback yet on the fermenter King 3g- I can't find any online - it all seem to be on the junior version

The 3rd Gen Fermenter Kings will be on a boat shortly, the booking has an eta into the UK of the 6th September so shortly after that :)

We're just waiting for an image and we'll get it online so we can start taking pre-orders over the phone

I know its been available, in Australia for a while but can't find any user reviews and discussion on it. also it has the harvesting tool as far as I can see, but I thought they were fazing them out?

This is what I've been waiting for. I am getting a chubby over the prospect of the Chubby. Better dimensions and design than the All Rounder for me.

Fermentasaurus Snub Nose arrived here yesterday evening - brew done simply to get it in and fermenting :D

No they are still currently in manufacture, even with the older model you can get the conversion kit for the plunger eliminating the need for the butterfly valve. Which ever you wanted to buy, harvesting yeast is possible in all the models, just easier with the collection bottle.

Boom! First brew transferred from snubnose to keg. Took bloody long enough. Is there a quicker way?

Had a taste of the beer. Very green (and warm as it wasn't in a fridge). Will have another little sample tomorrow when it's chilled. But I was happy with the sample pour. It had decent carbonation despite the crap spunding valve I used.

How did you transfer, what pressure did you transfer at?
