Hi guys.

Hope i explain this correctly as i was up late last night enjoying my first brew  .

I installed a false stainless botton into my keg/mash v. Issue is , if the recipe says put in for example 10 litres and add grain the 10 litres does not come up past the false floor ! So do i use 10ltr as zero litres if you know what i mean?

Its not 10ltrs just using 10 as an example of issue

Cheers.

If you have anything like space for 10 litres of liquor under your false botton I think you need a redesign, unless of course you have a 500 litre Mash Tun in which case that would be fine.

I have a 50 litre Mash Tun and only 1 litre of water fits under the false bottom, as a normal Mash uses 20 - 25 litres of liquor this is not a problem.

Perhaps post some pictures to give us more idea what your false nottom looks like and how far it is from the floor of the Tun.

10 ltr does sound a hell of a lot of dead space id also like to see a pic id expect a ltr or even 2 unless your pot is very large what type of vessel are you using as a MT ????

Hi guys i probably didnt expalin right sorry.

I said in original post ( for example 10 ltrs ) so lets take steve's 1 ltr under false bottom does that mean he treats 1ltr as zero! as the grain cannot mix with that 1 ltr ?

I was also wondering about this
When we say 2.5ltrs liquor per kg grain, does this include dead space? Or should we increase the liquor to compensate for the deadspace?

so if 1 ltr deadspace, we should put 2.5l per kg + 1 ltr
