I would also check the yeast before you start your brew. If it comes in a packet that weighs about 7g it might not be enough, and your brew might stick i.e. finish before it should. Muntons, who make this kit and similar kits like the Wherry have acknowledged there is a problem and have said their new kits will have more yeast. The normal recommendation is to substitute the yeast. Wilko sell an ale yeast which is fine.

Would you adam and eve it, they supplied it with a 6g pack of yeast! Looks like a trip to my local homebrew shop is in order to grab some more ale yeast. How much would you recommend I use please?

One packet of Wilko Ale yeast or GV12 or similar should be OK. I have used it as have others and it attenuates and packs down well. Don't throw way the Nog yeast. If you do this kit or any other from the range you can add it to to the new kit yeast and double up which should then be OK.

Excellent, thank you again sir!

Pitching Rate & Temperature depend on 1) Style & 2) Gravity of the wort being pitched into.
I'd see if any local micro breweries could supply any live barm / yeast , you'd need a sterilised glass lined thermos/ stainless steel flask to keep it cool if any breweries could help on supplying a small amount of live yeast ,
Hope that helps,
Cheers
Edd

............. local mice breweries ...........

Can I presume that brewing mice is a Yorkshire practice?

Personally, I'd use the 6g of yeast to make a starter whether I needed it or not. Two reasons:
1. It would keep my hand in.
2. It would demonstrate that the yeast was "good". :thumb:
