I am no beer guro or expert and only produce extract kits which I thoroughly enjoy and suits me down to the ground. A year or two ago I purchased a couple of Corny Kegs & CO2 tank which has been fantastic addition. I also started introducing dry hopping and have been very impressed with the difference this has made. Again I am no expert on hops but just know I really enjoy the flavours of the ones I have used so far..Cascade/Centennial/Citra....
I have really only used one at a time to try get a taste of them individually and usually 50g at a time.
I will normally Brew the beer in FV1.....rack into FV2 (adding the 50g of hops inside a muslin bag) for 5 to 7 days..........I have also added the bag of hops to the actual Corny keg which stayed inside for the duration of the beer. Both these methods have proved ok with no ill effects taste or otherwise.
I feel however I'd like to take the next step and maybe try blending a couple of different hops together and was wondering if there are any combinations you would suggest. I personally love the big citrusy taste of the Citra and would like to know if any other hops out there offer this kind of taste?

Also the amount I use in my 5 gallon batches is usually 50g is this sufficient (with cost somewhat in mind after all we are home-brewers).....
I watched a guy on youtube putting in 40g of hop pellets for a 5 gallon batch (straight in, no bag) 24 hours into fermentation...He later said that if he does again he would add 20g at this stage and 20g after fermentation has completed.

what are your thoughts on this method and the amount used also better to use a muslin bag or not?

I have an IPA extract kit waiting as we speak and some hops and want to give this method a try...
As ever look forward to your feedback and advice..
cheers ty.

Citra and mosaic is an obvious combination for dry hopping. Amarillo and simcoe are also decent dry hopped together.

I recently brewed a session NEIPA that used 240g of dry hops in two additions for a 20L batch. 93g in the primary at high krausen, and 147g in the keg after fermentation. If you want a really juicy tropical beer, then this is the level you need to be aiming for. However using less like you have still produces a good beer. Dry hopping doesn't always need to be done to high levels.

I put mine in a muslin bag because I find it so much easier to transfer my beer to bottles and the keg if there is minimal hop gunk at the bottom.

If you want to reduce oxidation when you dry hop, then you could use the magnet method. Put your hops in a muslin bag with a stir bar in. Then attach them to the underside of the FV lid with a magnet. When fermentation is complete (or whenever you need to dry hop), simply remove the magnet and the hops will fall in.
