Hi I've just recieved my order for ag 5kg Belgian ipa kit. I'm gonna try my first brew at the weekend and I've realised I've forgot to buy a thermometer to test how hot the strike water is and for the boil. Can I use a normal thermometer or do I need some sort of special one? The other question is what's the best way to store the hops and grain until I use them? Do they go in the fridge? Thanks for your help. Cheers.

Any thermometer will do, digital ones are easier to read.

Stick the hops in the freezer, the grain should be kept dry and away from pests but otherwise should be fine, if you;ve also got yeast, keep it in the fridge,
