that’s instead of the ss brewtech lid cap then, and looks like it has a floating pick up tube as well.
Good price, what’s the quality and fit like?

I have only done a couple of brews in the all rounder and I got it for ability to do closed transfers - which it does well. My NEIPAs are so much better now I have the all rounder.

For its simplicity, bulletproofness, ease of handling and taking samples, the conical base etc the brew bucket wins hands down.

I would think about getting a 2nd BB with closed transfer kit now I have seen the improvement in specific styles. I just couldn't justify the cost for it when I was experimenting.

what would be the dry hop threshold for you to use the all rounder over the BB?

It wasn't so much a dry hop threshold; I have generally been really happy with hop forward beers from my brew bucket. I was finding that my NEIPAs in particular were losing their taste and aroma quite quickly. I improved their shelf life a bit by kegging instead of bottling, but closed transfer and prevention of oxygen ingress had by far and away the biggest impact for maintaining that freshness. NEIPAs seem to be particularly susceptible to oxidation. So, I am using the all rounder for these. I also wanted to start making lagers, using pressure generated at the end of fermentation to transfer to keg and provide some natural carbonation - another reason for the all rounder.

My go to fermenter for most of my beers will still be the brew bucket to be honest.

Apologies for the late reply , the fit is absolutely fine , I originally paid €16 something each and a small amount on postage , but prices have increased of late. The kit comes with a length of flexible silicone hose and a filter rather than a float , I semi guestimated the length to cut the hose , using a tape measure to measure the distance between the dome lid triclamp fitting and roughly where I'd expect the yeast cake to sit , so that I'd prevent yeast carryover ,and it's worked well to date.

Hi, I have found this thread on the brew buckets very interesting. I have for some time being considering various ways to reduce oxygen exposure to the beer, especially NEIPA’s. Just a couple of questions for you, Sorcerer’s Apprentice if you don’t mind.
Does the Tri clamp and domed head on the brew bucket fit in a standard under the counter fridge?
I am looking to pressure transfer from the brew bucket to a William Warn counter pressure bottling system (when they arrive in the UK) and I was wondering if the keg transfer kit you purchased is only suitable for the 3 inch tri clamp only?
Thank you for informing your fellow brewers regarding best practices.
Many thanks,
WM7793

I'm not sure if there is such a thing as a standard time under counter fridge , as some have a larger 'compressor bump' than others . It fits in a Hotpoint under counter fridge , but Hotpoint probably have the smallest compressor in that it's only in one corner, rather than all the way across the back of the fridge, as it is in many other brands .
I've found a 2" unit but it's slightly different to the 3" , and there are adaptors available to reduce for example a 6" triclamp to 3" if you want to use it on a larger Tri clamp fitting.

Many thanks for your reply. It's good to see how these SS brew buckets can be upgraded to minimise oxygen pick up on transferring ale to either keg or bottles.

Sorry for the seemingly daft question here, but I have only ever used gravity when transferring from the brew bucket to my bottling bucket. I have have seen videos of the beer been transferred by pressure using the sample tap. One of your links referred to a 3" tri clamp fitting with two gas post fittings. From that, can I assume that you are not using the 3/8" tap to transfer the beer and using the other keg post on the tri clamp fitting instead?

The reason for all the questions regarding closed transfer using the brew bucket is that there seems to be a number of ways to do this depending on what hardware you choose. I have never been a fan of the brew bucket tap for a number of reasons as I think it's the weak link of what is otherwise a reasonable small brew vessel. I have always had my doubts whether adding copious amounts of dry hop material it would clog up the tap, and reduce the volume of liquid transferred. So if by taking the flow from the top this may mitigate those circumstances. Would using this method however, disturb the yeast cake?

Look forward to hearing your comments.

as above, i worry about blockages from the tap so from a post above seems better option - but im also wondering can I use the cap from my Fermenter king junior? id there a standard size here? does it matter its plastic.

Sorcerers Apprentice - you are correct in saying that there's no standard under the fridge due to the compressor. I have two brew buckets and one of them is quite a snug fit in the Beko fridge!
I would really appreciate it if you could give me the height of your brew bucket complete with the 3" domed lid and tri clamp gas post lid fitted to see if it all would fit my fridges.

The reason I ask is that I am looking to overcome a couple of existing problems I have with my current set up.
1. Cold crashing suck back
2. Preventing oxygen exposure during packaging

1. If I could use the keg post to connect my CO2 gas bottle. I could then have a small positive pressure on the brew bucket, avoiding the need for the various methods to prevent suck back during cold crashing ie CO2 balloons and CO2 harvesting bottles etc
2. I could also use the keg post to pressure transfer direct to the counter pressure bottler.

Look forward to hearing from you.

1000 apologies, I missed the notification that anyone had replied , it's just under 70cm including a gas or liquid disconnect

Absolutely no need to apologise. Thank you so much for your reply. I have ordered the brew bucket domed lid and the tri clamp attachment with the keg posts fitted too. I’m hoping this additional kit will help on closed transfers especially on NEIPA ale
I will keep you posted when everything arrives and whether it exceeds my expectations.

I've got the Brewkegtap version which I think is identical and I do have issues with that tap with NEIPAs and heavilly dry hopped west coasts. I'm going to fit my floating dip tube to the racking arm and see how that goes on my next brew! Its a cheaper and simpler option than buying a domed lid and the transfer kit IMO.

Had another blockage half way during kegging a few days ago but cleared it with an injection of gas via the keg.

Still after a smoother solution.
