I have the 12" dome fb in the mash tun and very happy with the performance. I am thinking of getting the 9" for my boiler. At the moment I have a short piece of drilled copper and while it works the run off is a bit slow. Plus the fb is stainless.
Any body use one as a hop filter?
Thanks

I have a copper hop strainer with 2mm holes, i hop light but have no issues . Maybe you just need a longer pipe with plenty more holes . You don't want too much crap getting through .

Decided to try something similar. A pound land tray with a lot of 2.5mm holes. Going to use a tank connector in the centre with an elbow and pipe to the tap.
There's more holes than the copper pipe I have been using so run off should be quicker. My last batch took about 40 minutes to run off.

I have a 12 inch fb in both mash tun and boiler, both with holes and they work fantastic. I hop a lot.
They are the ones from the homebrew company.

I think there's no reason the one I'm making won't work then. I am going to drill more holes on top and round the side then give it a go. :thumb:

Going to get the fittings in the morning and drill more holes. Should be between 350 and 400 3mm holes.

Glad to hear it worked Dan  Bit late replying but I used to use a Morebeer domed screen in the copper with no issues, however like already mentioned pellets will require covering it top and bottom with mesh.

I've not bothered with pellets yet so I'll stick with it until Ineed to change it. :thumb:
