Hi,Iam trying to get my water treatment sorted and got a Thames Valley Water report on line.(newbury west berks area)
Tapped in available info to forum calc and for 35lt total water it comes out at 41.1ml of crs, 2.68gr gypsum addd to mash, 4.54gr gypsum added to boiler, 2.79gr table salt to boiler, 3.55gr epsom salts to boiler. Does this look about right? ken.

Yes Mark it gave me the info that i posted here with the mash and boiler additions, just wanted to check with more experienced brewers
that it looked about right  ken.

It all depends on your water my profile is totally different obviously because our water is different. I have never used over 3 g of any additive to our beer as the water doesnt need it. That doesnt mean to say your water will be the same. If you put the figures into the calculator on every recipe you will get the correct results. What do you do about alkilinity?

It will depend on what style of beer you are brewing.
The salt is only normally added for dark beers, stouts and sometimes porters.

My advice would be to buy a Salifert Alkalinity test kit from e-bay test your water for every brew. My alk was 103ppm last week I mashed this morning and it was 75ppm. Dont bother with water board reports very unreliable. Test your water for alkalinty bring the alk down to 25ppm with CRS ( carbonate reducing solution ) for bitters and pale ales and use DLS ( dry liquor salts) for mineral additions. Go to the Brupacks site and print off and read ( Information Water Treatment) about the use and dosing of DLS and CRS.
