Do I have to carbonate?

So my first brew has been in the fermener for a few days now and all is looking well so far. All being well I'm planning to bottle it around day 8. The thing is I'm not generally keen on having any fizz in my beer. I have carbonation drops to use but I'm wondering if leaving them out altogether will have any negative effects on the final product? :hmm:

It shouldn't, but it's not obligatory to carbonate. Don't use them if you want flat beer.

Why not try half n half thats what im going to try on my next brew , I too am not overly keen on fizz but I don't mind a little :

Meant to say bottle 20 without priming and 20 with :

as this is your first brew, you could bottle most without any, then a little in some stepping up the dosages

this way you can see what works best for you :thumb:

make sure you mark the bottles so you know when you test which is which.

I'll definitely try a few with different combinations that I can compare later on, just pleased to hear that fizz isn't a vital ingredient :

Also, on a side note. Try and leave the brew in an FV for linger than 8 days. 2 weeks minimum really. :thumb:
