is there any recipes been tried to try and make something similar to disaronno? thanks

You can buy Amaretto essence for Balliihoo one of our sponsors here. You would need to add it to vodka or make up a alcoholic base using one of the turbo yeasts and sugar.

if you wanted to go from scratch, there's this recipe looking online...

Code:
    3 cups Vodka (80 proof)
    1 cup Brandy (80 proof)
1/4 cup apricot pits (kernels – available online)
    1/4 cup raw almonds
    1/4 cup anise seed
    3 tbsp fennel seed
1/4 cup frozen (pitted) cherries (approx 5 cherries)
1/4 cup frozen peach slices – chopped
    1/4 cup dried apricots (chopped)
    2 tsp chopped peppermint leaves
    2 peppercorns
    2 whole cloves
1/4 inch cinnamon stick – finely chopped
    1 allspice berry
1/2 cup distilled water to reconstitute the dried apricots

if you subbed out the brandy/vodka for home brewed 20% alcohol, I think you'd be close! not sure if you will use every ingredient, but the raw almonds and apricots are probably most important, not sure about the pits...

after posting I found the amaretto extract flavourings. and was thinking of making up some 20% base. I found on ebay there is 1l of amaretto syrup for £10 which works out a fair bit cheaper. would this work.

the coffee syrups? they can be used once the base has been stabilized, not sure how it would equate as the main flavouring though. if you do choose that route, you'd want to add the syrup and let it settle out before racking. :thumb:

i was thinking to brew the base then when finished and dropped clear rack and stabilise adding the syrup then leave in bulk to mature for a while

is it the same sort of principal for if i got the extract bottle from a homebrew shop.
