Stuff that. I love my diesel and can't stand tree-hugging Greenpeace types. I'd rather walk than drive an electric car, which aren't 'green' anyway - where do they think the fuel comes from to power the power stations which recharge their cars? Honestly these climate-change ****wits want locking up cos it all started with them. An' anyway you can't beat the smell of nitrogen oxides and partially burned hydrocarbons on a morning.

Good point.

Electric cars are great for cities/towns but if i had one i would need to charge it every day just to get me to work and back then any running about i needed to do after work, as i live on a terraced street i would have no means of charging it so they are of no use to me even if i could afford one.

What happens when the batteries are no longer holding a charge?

.

I have a v reg golf and will be seriously be thinking about taking advantage of this scheme.

I am in the same boat (no pun intended) if they offer me enough to allow me to buy another car i will gladly do so but i imagine its not going to be that easy it never is.

Wonder if they'll ever invent a wind up car like a wind up torch? You'd probably need arms like popeye though to get anywhere

So it's now 10 fruit and veg a day?? Who dreams this junk up? Apart from chips I don't eat anything that didn't have a face when it was alive, sup vast amounts of alcohol and have a hallucinogenic nicotine intake. And I'm easily the fittest 52 year-old I know.

There is a University department somewhere that sifts through a list of numbers and then arbitrarily decides what everyday activity they will apply this to;

10 - Hm thats sounds like the number of fruit and veg to eat in a day.

73 - ah that's the amount of money in pounds a jobless person just can't manage on each week.

80,000 - oh that one is easy, a University arbitrary numerical limit application specialist salary , tax free of course with perks!

0 - the number of Government advisory limits based on science that people actually regard as meaningfull and actually follow.

Assuming that the government will give 100% of the market value as of 31st December 2016 (a "We wish!" if ever there was one ) I will fully support any scheme that starts with diesel engined vehicles that are:

o Older than 18 years.

o Weigh more than 700kg.

o Over the 100,000 miles mark.

o Not fitted with a Catalytic Converter.

"Support such a Scheme?" I would be first in line to collect my cheque ... :thumb:

... which is why I'm not holding my breath in anticipation!

PS

I've already started on my "Five a Day" but I'm not sure that I could drink ten of them every day!

Fruity, hoppy ales count as part of your 5 a day!

Like @gunge you hate anything green too? Not a climate change denier too are you d-o-j?

Green stuff should not be eaten  , green plants are there as the lungs of the planet, as for climate change it's always happening.

we can't keep extracting (beer pun intended) stuff out of the planet indefinitely.

I think until the earth's resources are almost depleted and then there'll be wars over what little stuff is left, we won't change. :-( in the meantime, i'm avoiding spouts, cabbage etc and trying to do as little harm to the planet as poss.

***NEWSFLASH*** - As i was typing this I just thought ... all the co2 from my FV would really help plants to grow... :hmm: what can I use that for?

......... but we should, as a society, get our priorities right.

Oh dear! :nono: :nono: :nono:

Am I the only one that remembers The ***** saying "There is no such thing as society." as she sold off all the essential services that socially aware people had brought under public control two generations before she was even born?

All I can say (and some people may remember why) is "Ding dong!" ... :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

... and it has nothing to do with Leslie Phillips!

In all seriousness, I'm amazed that the climate-change contingent haven't yet protested about the vast volumes of CO2 produced worlwide from fermented beverages. Maybe they should discuss this problem over a craft beer or two. They're gullible like that, y'know.
