Hi,
What's the verdict on mashing and sparging on one day and boiling on the next, as I'd like to give this a try?

I would advise against as you could pick up an infection which though would be killed in the boil could leave off flavours.

An overnight mash IMHO would be better as the temp remains fairly high thus reducing the risk of infection.

No chill cubes are for post boil.....the near boiling wort goes into the container and sterilises it, then as long as it's sealed it will keep for a while before fermenting.

It can be used to avoid chilling and reduce water use, or just to delay the ferment.

I can't avoid dropping to near /under 40c for such along period overnight (which my mash tun - would drop to after 4 hours). Placing a whole tablet of campden would do nothing to stem the bacteria? Any further suggestions?

I mash overnight for 16hrs in a freezing cold workshop, but I wrap the mash tun up in bubble wrap blankets, more blankets. Also put the mash tun on a 2" block of polystyrene and cover over the mash in tin foil and then in a bin bag fill the dead space with bubble wrap. i lost 10c over 16 hrs. :thumb: :thumb:
