Hello all,
pitched the yeast on the Coopers stout at about 5pm yesterday, leaving for work this morning I noticed water in the airlock had displaced slightly to one side and the lid bulged a bit. Phoned the wife about 3pm who informed me it's getting out of the bucket! I said push the lid back and leave it. ..just got home..it's come out of the airlock and popped the lid but luckily the tray under the fv saved a right mess! Now after a bit of a clean up the airlock is full of wort and bubbles and stuff...is it ok to remove it,clean, sterilise and replace? Plus any other tips please!

Regards

Clint

This is a treacle stout I let get up to 29c. Woops.
It's in secondary now and tastes gorgeous, so no harm done.
I don't use an airlock so once it'd calmed down I just put the lid back on tight and hosed off the gunk.
