Please, please, please, it should be obvious I was joking but, don't take me seriously! I'm worried now that I've persuaded people to buy one of those "Chinese" microscopes! Like a lot of Chinese stuff, the descriptions will be "slightly" exaggerated, and "x1000" is outrageous! Apparently you'll be lucky to get x40 which wont be enough. Also read Cell Counting / Viability Testing | White Labs, although they suggest x400 you can probably get away with less (x100?) 'cos you're only doing it rarely and then only as a "better than wet finger in the air" sort of accuracy.
And you are doing it through curiosity (if bothering to do it at all), not because it will make better beer! Because it won't.
