after spending 15 quid & an extra 5 on spraymalt

Why did you buy Spray malt?? The wherry is a 2 can kit and so no need for added extras. Maybe thats why it tastes sweet??? Im no expert but my wherry is going down fine and (to me) dosnt taste sweet??. :wha:

I actually bought beer enhancer, spraymalt & dextrose mix, the dextrose wouldn't add any sweetness, as its pretty fermentable, & I doubt the sprymalt would have, I bought it to up the strength a little.

To be honest it wasn't over sweet, my main concern was I could taste the tin if you know what I mean, I am very sensitive to things like that, I can taste the tin in canned beers and steer clear as a result.

and by tin I mean any metal (the container) not specifically the metal tin

I've just cracked open one of mine, been conditioning just a week (my first ever bottled beer!). Can't say I'm impressed tbh...taste is okay, bit too fruity for my liking. Smell is not nice at all, quite off putting actually. Going to leave it to condition a few weeks more and try it again, I fear it may have to be ditched as it just doesn't seem right to me.

One of my first brew's was a wherry. I left it about a month and tried a couple, It was ok but as a few have said not quite what they were expecting. I left it a bit longer and it seemed to get better. After three months it was lovely and became my drink of choice over christmas. Have done four since, all seemed to turn out fine.

I did this last night, its only had a couple or three weeks conditioning but was very clear and smooth - not really what i was expecting for some reason  I quite liked the zesty citrus taste but not sure if I could drink alot of it in one hit. Very pleasurable all the same, a nice cool summer drink

Just finished drinking my first lot of Wherry  (first homebrew ever) and mine only sat for a couple of weeks conditioning. I agree about the slight citrus edge which I also liked. I found it to be a damn fine pint with a slight nutty backtaste. The taste changed very slightly over the 3 or 4 weeks it took to drink it. I just wish I had another 40 pints in stock!

I'm thinking of trying something different this time - maybe a Great Eastern kit or even one of those Amarillo jobbies

I too have just cracked open my keg of Wherry which has cleared nicely (ritchies beer finings). Drinkable, but I'm not sold on the fruityness... if there was a way of toning it down a bit, like putting 1 can of wherry kit with a single can bitter kit... :hmm:

Naaah, there's no point when there are better kits out there - I've enjoyed Milestone's Olde home wrecker (boosted with some DSM) and I also prefer youngs definitive bitter (using dark dsm) to this. I could buy 2 of the youngs for less than the wherry and do them as a 2-can kit and it would probably be better.

Just arguing with myself, you understand ;)
