Rex, The point about having a jab when you may already have a good level of anitbodies seems valid to me. The question would be is the UK geared to do that amount and type of testing?
Now Mrs DOJ recently recovered from Delta and I tested negative a number of times for Covid. In the absence of a test to see if I have a good level of antibodies or not do I take that chance?

I refused hospital treatment when I was badly knocked of my bike last year because the hospitals were covid central at the time and there was no vaccine or decent treatment at the time.

I've been able to manage the whole risk adequately by reading up on the science stats and papers about covid and even even had a covid safe holiday abroad last year. The governments message matches what I've learnt myself generally.

If the average Joe public doesn't read up on covid for themselves does that mean that it boils down to trusting the government & their health advisors or not?

I recall early on the requirement to exercise locally. However this put me at more risk because of the number of people who I'd pass locally on the shared cycling paths. So I exercised away from my home where it WAS quieter. So the government can't get it 100% right for all the people.

TLDR: I got my 3rd jab ASAP because I had no proof I may have sufficient antibody protection. What I did ascertain is that I have a good level of protection with 3 jabs for the moment.

I don't need one as I do have sources. Your info is conflicting and anecdotal so I'm trying to prevent the spread of false information. Therefore, based on your medical advice given way up the thread, what is your source, please?
Give your source please? You won't obviously

According to the CDC, we're doing boosters at six months. NFL players are falling like flies right now (nine here, twelve there) and the coaches quoted on ESPN say their players are all vaccinated.

Give your source please? You won't obviously
CDC. I thought you were done?
Edit: Michigan's Government Website.
Edit: Dr Fauci is awesome for info as well.
Edit: Don't know why I "won't obviously" is a consideration you have. I haven't said anything requiring a source but when I do, I do.

This recent back and forth highlights a general misunderstanding of how clinical research, vaccine approval and risk works.

I remember some months back on a work call a colleague said "the vaccine is untested, we're technically the test participants which is why the leaflet they give you mentions reporting side effects".

I had to point out that the MHRA yellow card scheme isn't some new thing, nor is the ongoing reporting and monitoring of side effects. Go look on a leaflet in a box of paracetamol and it'll be there on the leaflet.

As for risk. Yes there's an increased risk of myocarditis in young people but if there was a 1 in 10,000 chance of it happening to a given person, and those with the vaccine now have a 2 in 10,000 chance the media who don't understand statistics are quick to report a 50% increase in risk. Note numbers of risk there made up as I don't have them to hand for this specific case!

I didn't catch why Rex was identified as a troll, other than disagreeing with the general narrative.

I have read back through the thread and i discovered i got two posts mixed up and the original was not by Rex so i apologise to @Rex for the mistake *and look forward to his next post on the subject.

*Well the last bit might be taking it a bit too far ;)

The UK has recorded the highest number of daily Covid-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, with 78,610 new cases on Wednesday.
The previous record was 68,053 on 8 January - when the UK was in lockdown.
Speaking at a news conference, England's chief medical officer Prof Chris Whitty warned that records will be broken a lot in the next few weeks.
PM Boris Johnson said it is absolutely vital that everyone gets a booster jab.
He warned that in some areas the doubling rate was now under two days.
Mr Johnson said: "I'm afraid we're also seeing the inevitable increase in hospitalisations up by 10% nationally, week on week, and up by almost a third in London."
Prof Chris Whitty said the country is experiencing with two separate epidemics, one driven by the "very rapidly-growing" Omicron variant and the other by the Delta variant.
He said: "I'm afraid we have to be realistic that records will be broken a lot over the next few weeks as the rates continue to go up."
The scientist added Delta cases appear to still be flat while Omicron is growing.

Cases have risen by nearly 20,000 in one day - on Tuesday, 59,610 confirmed cases were confirmed by the government.
The jump in cases follows the introduction of new measures in recent days, with mandatory face masks in most indoor settings and Covid passes for large events in England.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid refused to rule out introducing new restrictions over the coming weeks, but insisted the measures in place currently are the right ones.
Asked if more guidance would be issued instead of legislation, he told reporters: "We keep the whole situation under review. It is fast moving, I think people understand that."
Mr Javid also said around 60% of cases in London are now of the Omicron variant.
Also on Wednesday, the UK gave out 656,711 booster or third doses of a vaccine - up by over 140,000 on the day before.
There were 165 deaths of people who tested positive for Covid in the previous 28 days.

Concerns over the speed at which the Omicron variant is spreading in the UK have been expressed by scientists and government advisers.
Earlier head of the UK Health Security Agency, Dr Jenny Harries, warned Omicron is "probably the most significant threat" since the pandemic began.
The chief executive of NHS England said the case numbers "should worry all of us" and emphasised they show how important the booster programme is.
Amanda Pritchard told the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee: "That is a stark reminder of why the current national mission to get Covid vaccination is the right one."

According to Ken Daniels (longtime Detroit Redwing's play-by-play announcer), the NHL has only one player in the entire league who's not vaccinated.
One missed benefit of watching hockey is you learn a lot about how to pronounce non-English names (Roy, Jardin, etc.).
I think that's very responsible.

Chop sauce is the best sauce. General you can only get it in the north but it hammered Daddy’s or HP

Chop sauce is the best sauce.
I'll have to defer to you on that one. I haven't seen it though that doesn't mean much. I can't say for sure if it's available because I didn't check. Probably is. Someone's always importing something.
It might be like that famous Golden Syrup (Lyle and Tate???) from the UK--you can get it here but it's priced out the roof.
I had to go back and look at how I got onto this topic. @Hanglow mentioned it and I bit.
Anyway, COVID is such a pain in the butt. I can't believe how long it's been going on. Masks do well though with cutting the chill, just like a face scarf (there. I'm on topic).
