You should be able to pick up a corelius keg, dalex tap and 3/16" to 3/8" adaptors and 3/16" tubing for around the £60.00 mark.

You would need a regulator and co2 pub gas type bottle if You wish to force carbonate.

This will set You back another £35.00 for the regulator and whatever price You can get a bottle of co2.

Hope this helps.

Norm on Ebay will be able to sort You out for these items if you email Him.

Norm is one of the forum sponsors (see here on our links page). It's worth emailing him because he might be able to do you a good deal - especially if you go directly and avoid the eBay fees. He sometimes sells slightly dented cornies for a lot less than you would think.
Remember to mention the home brew forum - he might even do you a deal :thumb:

Cornies are complicated hi-tech forced CO2 jobs. I just use bog-standard plastic jobs. No faffing about with CO2, provided you prime and dont drink too quickly. £17 at wilkos.

I have King Kegs and am sorry now that I never got cornies like you I went with price but in hind sight I'd have been better off getting cornies in the first place so funds allowing I will buy a couple soon ;)

Actually that is completely wrong, Cornii can be as low tech as your plastic jobby . . . In fact I have seen a conversion where someone put a plastic drum tap low down on a corny . . . Prime and forget . . . once the sediment around the dip tube has been sucked up you have a normal cask, beer. . . . .of course it also allows you to invest in a full pub gas setup as well and also use a beer engine if you want to.

I use a pub gas setup and provided you don't use excessive pressures my 'forced' beer is carbonated to just about the ideal 'natural' 'real ale' 'cask conditioned' level . . . and it stays there consistently to the ned of the cask . . no gushing out at the beginning and dribbling out at the end.

I agree with Aleman, cornies are an absolute doddle to use and moreover once the beer is carbonated as you like it you can store the keg virtually anywhere, even in direct sunlight. I finished off a brew yesterday that was kegged before Christmas last year and it's been stood in my 20c kitchen ever since and it was crystal clear and tasted fantastic.

Thanks to the advice and info on this forum I'm off to pick up my corny's from Norm tomorrow morning :thumb: now all I have to do is fill them  ...Standby for a Tsunami of questions about AG and the dark side :hmm:

Hi guys,

Norm said that the total for everything you need and the cornelius keg would be £146 with delivery, that seems more expensive than what I thought seeing as i have around £60-£70 to spend am i going to be able to get one?

BELOW IS WHAT YOU NEED:
1 KEG £35 (£5 cheaper if you want grade B one)
1 CO2 CYLINDER £35
1 CO2 REG £33
1 DISPENSE TAP £33

TOTAL £146

Ok, go for the cheaper keg = £30.

You can get a CO2 cylinder from a drinks/beverage wholesaler - you kind of hire the bottle but all you pay for is refils. Refils of a large cylinder cost me only £7. I only need about one refil per year.

CO2 reg - you can look for them on eBay and pick them up much cheaper. You could potentially use an Oxygen reg if you are any good at DIY and prepared to fit a different connector so that you can attach it to a CO2 cylinder. - You could probably pick up a reg for about £15 if you keep your eyes peeled on eBay and don't need it tomorrow. Here's a link to one although I would not like to say whether it is suitable or not - it certainly has an Oxygen bottle style connector. Have a good search - there are others...

Dispense tap - the price he has quoted there is for a very smart tap with flow control that is attached to a cornie disconnect. They are great but as you see, a bit pricy. If you are doing this on a budget then you can get second hand taps from eBay for about £10 each - admittedly, they are not attached to the disconnect so you will need to improvise but some people drill a hole in the rubber cornie handle and mount the tap there (here is a link to a set of 5 being sold on ebay). Here's another. Have a good look on eBay - there are options...

I therefore reckon that can be done for about £62 - so just within your budget :thumb:

If you ask Norm nicely when you buy the cornie, he will probably throw in a couple of metres of beer line and CO2 line too. :thumb:

Thanks for the reply and your great advice, at the moment I'm trying to bargain norm down quite alot hope it works!!
