I started my second batch of Coopers Stout on Sunday afternoon / evening. When I came home from work yesterday (about 17:30) I was delighted to find it fizzing and hissing and foaming and bubbling etc with gusto. This morning I was gutted to find it almost dormant and with the airlock empty, and this evening it is completely lifeless, although the lid of the fermenter is still domed so there is pressure inside the bin. I added a stick of liquorice, bought from my local Homebrew shop when mixing the brew.
Should I wave a tearful farewell to it as I pour it down the drain or can I save it?
