Hi.

I have brewed several coopers kits in the past but this is the first time I've done the Pilsener.....its been in the FV for 4 days now and it STINKS - kind of a mixture of burning sulphur and eggs - is this normal?

All my other kits have given off a quite fragrant aromas but this one is like an elephant house.

Cheers in advance.

I think lager styles and cider tends to smell more than other brews, from what I have experienced anyway.

Checked your temps are ok? I have not done this kit, but was looking to start it at the weekend if I can get my brew fridge sorted, I understand this kit uses a lager yeast and needs fermenting at a low temp?

Brew Dan.

Temperature at a steady 20 which is the upper end of what's recommended for this kit (lager yeast.)

Been a couple of days now and activity seems to have slowed and smell seems to be subsiding - fingers crossed it will be ok.

it actually says in the instructions that it gives off an eggy smell when ferm'ing

we've just brewed this and it did give off a faint smell of egg for 2 days - the smell was gone completely when we bottled it

we've drunk a dozen bottles since it was bottled on the 28/05 and it's delicious

nice clean taste, no yeastiness, clear as you loike and refreshing

definitely my new favourite 1 can kit
