Wel i've allready got one in secondary, it was the youngs brew lager as it came free but I tasted it when I was bottling and it tasted awful (may have got a yeasty mouthful) so I don't know how it will turn out. I'm trying the coopers now while the other one finishes so I just wanted to make sure it goes well this time. Thanks for the reply it helps and I will be sure to let you know how it goes

Welcome to the forum Dan

I'm drinking a Cerveza at the moment and its great. Its not too fizzy and has a slightly sweet taste. I brewed mine to 5.8% by short brewing. Its very very easy drinking, especially when ice cold.

If you get an eggy smell whilst brewing it, don't worry. Matured for at least a month it will turn out a cracker.

Cheers Neil

hi i have just bought this kit with some brewing sugar. i was wondering whoever has made it successful how long u left it in each stage and what you added right up to bottling also any general tips for making this taste good,im really new at this and need the benifit of all your experiance

thanks, dan

I've been told brewing sugar isn't really necessary, though I've never used it. Just gone on hear say.

I only made my Cerveza to around 3.75 Gallons. I also used 1300 grams rather than the recommended 1000 grams. I left it six weeks in the fermenter since I was lazy in getting around to bottling. Don't barrel this one as with all other lagers.

I When it came to bottling the brew had reached an S.G. of 1002! nearly all the sugar had been consumed. Was worried though that the yeast may not re-start for secondary fermentation. It obviously did since the final outcome was a gassy brew, the way it should be.

I was very happy with the taste, perhaps a little sweet and strong for some, but for me spot on! :D :drink:

I dare say if I'd followed the instructions when it came to sugar content and water it would obviously been more like a regular Cerveza. Mine had a similarity to a strong Belgian gold beer, a little like Duvel!

You can't go far wrong, as with most kits, there isn't much to go wrong!

I tried the Youngs lager kit too, it tasted awful when I bottled it, awful after a month of conditioning and it tasted awful as I poured it down the drain last week to make room for the muntons cerveza kit that is just about ready for bottling and tastes pretty good already
