Oh. My. Word. I have found my BBQ brew. I have just popped the cap on my Cooper's Mexican Cerveza, a week earlier than I anticipated for quality control purposes of course, and it's f-ing marvellous.
It contains:
1 Cooper's Mexican Cerveza 1.7kg kit can
1 Cooper's Brew Enhancer 2
25g of Citra Hop pellets thrown in when fermentation had pretty much stopped (5-7 days into the brew)
I was planning on bottling it soon after adding the pellets but I had no time at all with other commitments. I bottled it nearly 2 weeks after, but it has caused no detriment whatsoever.
It has a very, very light bitterness but the flavour and aroma is fantastic. It's not unlike a blonde ale, slight maltiness, medium mouth feel and the citra hops really go well with this kit. A bit of chill haze but that doesn't bother me at all. I have done the cerveza kit before with the BE2 but although it was very nice, it went down without any real flavour or memorability. Also, the kit yeast seemed to be quite prominent but with the hops this time around, it seems to marry all the flavours together. It totally compliments the yeast and the kit.
I will leave the rest for another week and then move them to under the stairs.... But after then, I can't see them lasting very long at all. BTW, tesco direct has a 25% off offer running until the end of June for those who weren't aware, I'll definitely be grabbing another kit and repeating this exact brew! ::
