hello im new to the site and to brewing :drunk: i have just purchased a coopers ginger beer, it says brews 20 litres i was wondering if i brewed with 1kg of brewing sugar and brew 18 litres instead of 20 would the abv be higher or would i be better of putting bit more sugar i was hoping for about 4-4.2 % any replies would be great thanks steve.

The more sugar you add and the shorter you brew it, the stronger it will get. Sugar will dilute the taste though, so the more you add, the more plain and sharp it's going to get. I'll suggest what I suggest to everyone when starting - follow the pack instructions, you've got plenty of stuff to learn on your first brew, nevermind fiddling with recipes :)
