I've just brewed up a coopers European lager ready for Xmas, and I used the coopers enhancer 2 as recommended on the side of the tin. However on opening the enhancer, it was rock hard, I mean couldn't smash it with a rolling pin, hard. I managed to break it into 3 fist sized pieces and a few shards. I managed to melt them into my pot with the contents of the can and added the mix to the water in my FV. As a furst time enhancer user, Is it right for the enhancer to be this hard/ will it do any harm to my brew?

Any assistance greatly appreciated!

I used it with the exact same kit. It was as powdery as flour mate. Where did you get it from? I imagine it wasn't stored correctly..

Even so, I reckon it'll be fine anyhow

The bloke in my local hbs told me that dry malt extract, if not kept totally sealed away from moisture, goes rock hard. This may be your problem. However, so long as you have managed to dissolve it it should be ok.

I bought it from a local tescos, I was worried that some moisture had got in and hardened it, it wasn't just one spot, it was like a brick. But I couldn't seem to find any holes in the wrapper.... It took about 10 mins to dissolve along with poking it with my plastic brewing spoon. I am heartened to hear that it should be ok. I guess time will tell, but I wanted your advice incase anyone knew I'd botched it straight away. thanks all! :thumb:

Well, 24 hrs later and things seem to be ok, bubbling away nicely. I'll keep my fingers crossed but my initial worries are disappearing...
