Ok I know this is a much discussed thing but I was wondering what peoples real world experiences were with these things. My wife bought me a pack from Wilko's because she thought it would be easier than trying to measure sugar on a spoon. But obviously these things are designed for the larger sized bottles and stubby bottles rather than the 500ml bottles I have.

Now I normally brew ales and wheats with the odd mexican lager thrown in. So what would people suggest for dosing levels on these types of beers. Some people say to throw just the one in and leave it at that. Some say throw two in and others say to cut some in half and add one and a half to each 500ml bottle.

it's all a little confusing.

Yes it is confusing. but I always use 500ml pet bottles and for beer and ales ( if I use carb drops ) I add 1 drop to each bottle its plenty for beer. Lagers I would still add one drop but then add a quarter tsp of sugar as well to each bottle. ( I don't make much lager.)
To be honest I've found they are a bit of a nuisance and expensive as they don't keep and turn into a sticky mess. I've got into the routine of using a small funnel and measuring spoon and using half tsp of tate and Lyle its cheaper because I pinch the wife's cooking store !

i used to use them, i used 1 drop in a 500ml bottle and that was plenty of fizz for me. I batch prime now

I started off using the drops and put 1.5 in each bottle when I did a lager, or 1 drop for ales. Then I decided that using a small funnel and teaspoon wasnt any more effort and certainly cheaper as said above.

+1 on 1 per 500ml bottle, I used them a few years ago because they come with the nano brew kit I bought, thought that they were good until I saw the price, I too now batch prime.
