Bottled my betterbrew Czech pilsner tonight but was most disappointed that 5 bottles from the same box had pin prick holes in the bottom. Any one else had this. Also thinking of getting a little bottler to make life easier. Are they worth it. :D

Bottling wand - yes, defo worth it.
Pin prick holes - No. I'd be enquiring of whowever you bought them from as to their returns policy.

Ordered from tesco direct as they were only £9.50 a box and free collection from store. Will see how my pilsner turns out before I decide on the little bottler.

i see some one on here had the same problem(pin holes) with coopers bottles from tesco last week i think

take the leaking bottles back to the shop and complain very loudly in store.

Well I was in my LHBS today and mentioned about my dodgy bottles. Apparently he had a call Monday to say that there is a problem with these as one of the moulds used to make them had an imperfection causing this failure. He no longer stocks them since tesco bought up all the stock. Seems all the suppliers have recalled all the batches from this mould. He now stocks richies bottles in box's of 20.

I was the guy who had the same problem last week with bottles bought from Tesco. Of two boxes, sixteen bottles had holes in them. Messaged Coopers on Facebook as I couldn't find an email address for them in the UK and they sent me a gratis box of bottles which I now need to fill!!!

i would definatly take them back and say you need a beer kit replacement too because all the beer came out the holes and ruined it, worth a try

Deegee I have emailed coopers but can't seem to find them on Facebook. Let's see what they say. Well done for getting some free bottles :D

I've got 8 boxes of Cooper's bottles, every single one has been fine. I would sort that refund out. I'm a big fan of Cooper's stuff, the gateway brand for brewing.

Try Twitter. @CoopersDIYBeer Very good they are too at responding.

I'm astonished to read this thread that you are buying bottles when you can get them for free from your local pub.

They would be happy to give you bottles - as many as you want as they have to pay to have them dumped. Also check out your local council re-cycling centre, they will give you bottles as well,

My LHBS told me about this problem yesterday. They gave me a bunch of extras just in case. Got to love Richard and the guys at Lovebrewing. Good customer service and the occasional free sample whenever I go.

Seems like theres a dodgy batch.

Hmm same thing happened to me bottling stout (of all liquids) at the weekend. Five bottles in a box - totally consistent with the LHBS explanation.

If Tesco UK have bought up a large number that are affected, I can imagine the supplier being in some trouble.

My problem is I have bought boxes of bottles from different suppliers and can't remember properly which was what. May try e-mailing Coopers as suggested on the thread. Thanks, guys! :thumb:

Sorry hadn't seen this until tonight. I'm too new a user to be allowed to post the link as a URL :sulk: but the Facebook page I messaged them on is Coopers DIY beer UK. There are now a couple of comments on the page reporting similar issues.

I can't fault Tesco or Coopers for their responses.

Yep I can't fault them either. Contacted coopers in Australia and USA and UK and they are replacing bottles and throwing in a free beer kit aswell. Quick response from them and no hassle. Just how customer service should be. I wonder if some other manufacturers would be as helpful or quick to respond.

I bought 2 boxes from Tesco Direct about 3 weeks ago and have used 38 bottles without a problem so far. I also see they are out of stock. Would that bee because of a product recall?

I finally worked out where I got the bottles with the holes from and they have promised that Coopers will sort it out.

That would work for me.

Replacement pack of bottles duly arrived today, plus a "sweetener" - an Irish Stout Kit.

So that's that.
