Cool storage - simple question from the new boy :-)

I'm setting up a fridge with a STC 1000 to control fermentation temp but I'm going to have a problem storing the bottled / kegged beer at a constant temperature.

My options are -

In the garage (detached brick) were the temp fluctuates
In the attic which is worse.

There is no good place in the house' under the stairs is in use and so on.

What do I do to sort out a cool enclosure, can I make something that won't cost a bomb?

If you havent got a place you could make one! A "tea chest" type box lined with polystyrene will stop the temp going up and will stop it going down. It will have a levelling effect i.e. it will gradually warm during the day and gradually cool at night, if you are lucky you will get a narrow + and -.
 
Keep it in the house while secondary fermentation is taking place then store it in the garage :cheers:
 
+1 to the good advice above. You've sorted out the critical part - your fermentation temperature. Once the beer is bottled the temperature is less important (2 weeks warm conditioning, 2+ weeks cool is good enough - the beer is pretty stable at this point).

Just don't let it freeze... :)

It's a good old standby is the concrete floor, the temperature fluctuations are small and slow. If you need something kept cool the concrete is like the old chill rooms before fridges, a lot of victorian houses had a cold slab either in a cellar or outhouse.
Its the air temp that fluctuates more than the slab, so if you were keeping bottles on the floor 'bare bums' and a sheet of bubble wrap over the top to keep the warm air off could work nicely :idea:
