I've recently tasted a batch of brew and was disappointed to find there was a "greasy" flavour to it, I've found out what caused it, vegetable oil mistakenly stored in the container I use to dilute the sugar for the second fermentation, this container can be replaced for a few pennies but the barrel is a King Keg therefore not cheap to replace. Anyway my question is! What is the best product to clean the contamination out of the barrel,if any, I may have to go down the bleach route as a last resort, any help will be appreciated, many thanks and happy brewing

2nd for detergent - just make sure to wash out VERY thoroughly afterwards

I'd mix oxy and detergent because the detergent makes the water wetter and the oxy will help stuff get into suspension.

I used to use it. There are recipes online to make your own PBW although not tried it yet. Might give it a crack though. If the plastic smells you can soak in a weak bleach solution and leave outside. In the sun works faster.
Yes o.k.o.k.I'm a member of D.E.N.S.A. but what's PBW? Cheers

Hi Foxy, thanks for the message, where can I get this from and does it have a brand name? Thanks
You are not local to me so I can't give you any advice on that, the other alternative is the oxiclean from Aldi or other supermarket. You will still need to use a sanitiser afterwards.
