Go to your local supermarket and buy (two) 5ltr water bottles for about a quid (each)
.... then nip into Wilkinson's for a couple of airlocks (you only need one but they are sold in twinpacks, so you may as well buy 3 bottles of water), drill an 8-10mm diameter hole in the bottle tops and Bob's your uncle :thumb:

To make one wine you need two bottles, the spare being for when it comes to racking.

thanks guys thats good advice!
i did sign up to my local freecycle, got a million emails which i had to put a stop to lol but didnt get a reply to my wanted ad!

i shall continue my pursuit of my new hobby cheap booze though!
ive got someone asking their boss if they can have a couple of those massive water bottles you get ontop of water coolers

failing that it'll be a trip to the supermarket for water and lots of fruit juice!!

Good way to go, if you can get 'em :thumb:

I haven't yet, but use the 15 litre non-returnable JustEau PETs from Asda.

There's a well worn saying that 19 litres takes no longer to make than 5, and lasts nearly twice as long.

Capacities modified, original saying refers to five gallons as opposed to one.

I tried to take 5 of those water tanks for coolers but the cleaning guy 4 it said oh are they mine and took them grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I was saving 1 from each order hehe grrrrr

you may have to sneak 1 away or the water guy takes them back lol I can't remember the charge of not taking them back  I s'pose you could ask how much they are to buy off them if they don't let you have for free I will try find out how much they are (I don't think they are pricey)

it doesnt hurt to ask!

i had a meal in an italian tonight and asked what id have to do to get one of their over sized colouring pencils (they're cool!)

he asked me what colour and just gave me one =]

Just a word of warning to anyone with half an eye on their boss's 18.9l water cooler bottle. Most of these bottles have a deposit of £5 or more.

Not quite keg watch, but I wouldn't want anyone to get into trouble with their pay provider!! ;)

I couldn't find the price of if ya don't return em Accounts lost agreement tut

but like above said '5er' if not sounds about right I know it aint much but it's if your boss sees it that way unless u offer him cash but in that case you may as well just go asda for a water bottle

I've just found a deionised water tank I think I might use that 25 ltr .............. thats if I can use it but it's only had pure water in so :/

I WANT A BIG CRAYON

Check the bottom of the container, our deionised water drums carry a fork and glass ‘food grade’ symbol. :thumb:

I get DJ's from my local recycling center/tip. every time i go there there are always at least a few they charge me 50p per dj. I did once buy 10 for £2 ! but they got nicked from me when i was working/living in glouceseter.
in-fact i find it a great place for brewing equipment, I have found so many brown plastic HB barrels i hardly bother picking them up any more, I have a great cast iron BASS firkin horse which is probably the best part of 80 years old. there are more co2 tanks than you can shake a stick at and always a few half full. they put all brewing stuff to one side for me now.

check out ur local recycling centers I think a lot of them sell off the more useful things.
I also have surf boards, kayaks from there!

steptoe and son style!

I've been looking for 15 litre PETs. My local supermarkets don't do them, and, whilst the Asda website has 'Justeau' 15 litre bottles for sale, they are not available to order! I don't know if it is just a local thing with Asda or if they are considering stopping selling them?? I sent an email but haven't received a reply yet.

Has anyone else found this?

I did find a 15 litre PET here but it is quite a price!!

Does anyone know where else I can get a 15 litre PET?

Yes, I've found that too. I think they are only stocked by some of the larger branches. We have two stores, both about 10 miles away, both pretty big, but only one of them has those water bottles.

It could be that it's not available for home delivery because it isn't available from all stores, and their online system isn't going to check which store your order is going to be picked from and whether or not they stock that product.

Your Right Moley.
Asda called today; the item is "store specific"!

Next time I see a large Asda, I'll pop in!

Somehow, I appear to have posted on a "wanted -for sale" thread not the "15 litre water bottle" thread!

I wouldn't worry about it. As the original question has been partly answered but mostly sidetracked, I'll move this to “discussions”.

's not fair. Never any brewstuff on my local Freecycle or at my local tip. I've had to buy all my gear! Got some decent deals on ebay though.

i popped into the Asda "Supercentre" near Sport City in Manchester today and left with two bottles at £5.70 apiece. Thanks for the info.
