I'm looking to hook up a copper strainer to the bottom of a boiler with a ball valve on the outside of the unit.

What connectors do you guys use to hook that all together?

I know this doesn't really answer your question, but i walked into my local plumbing shop and told the guy what i wanted to do. With a bit of head scratching he supplied the bits i needed.

That's my plan for tomorrow actually!

Just thought is ask here first.

Nothing yet as I'm starting one from scratch. I was in b & q today and the ball valves were all for fixing between two tubes.

I need to know how to hook this up on the edge of a metal boiler with a strainer on the inside.

So did you shove 15mm copper through the tank connector and use that for fittings on either side?

K

Chrisps link is what I was going to suggest
To get the strainer onto the back I used these. They screw onto the nipple, but the strainers copper pipe doesn't rotate, which is vital if your angling/bending the pipe down toward the base of your boiler.

Cool. Just bought 2 of them. Was planning on using 15mm on the inside but its no big deal to change.

Vossy - looks good but I assume I'd need a different size though as the taps above have a bigger internal thread.

Hi Kev, The E-bay tap linked has a 1/2" nipple on the inside of the boiler. The part I've listed screws straight onto it. Your 15mm strainer down pipe pushes into the other end, you tighten the nut and it grips/seals the pipe.
I hope that makes sense...this is a pic of the same fitting but I've used a reducer in the 15mm compression to take 10mm pipe

Cool. So the taps I've bought and those connectors will be good to go?

K

The eBay ad is a bit basic! Can I confirm that its a half inch female threaded section on one end and a 15mm connection on the other end?

K

Cool. Thanks.

I picked up cool box, elements, etc yesterday so it'll soon be time to get the spanners out.
