Hi I'm new to this and looking to buy a homebrew kit,any advice would be gratefully received thanks in advance.

Welcome danmac.
When you say a homebrew kit, what do you mean? Is it a malt extract based kit to make a beer? Is it the buckets and boilers and measuring gear and bottles and caps? Or both. You might start here and have a look around:

Hi Anjou,sorry I meant all the starter equipment and a brew kit are the buckets etc all similar in quality or are some far superior

They're not all the same, but neither of these companies will sell you complete rubbish. Best start with minimum investment until you get used to brewing and decide what you really want. Nothing will go to waste when you upgrade- a spare fermenter, for example, is always handy.
