Fellow HB's
I have my first batch of home brew ready this weekend and need to know when to add the gelatin, prior, during or after the cold crash?
I am brewing a Festival Razorback IPA.

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Hi Stoney

Many won't do either the cold crash or the fining with gelatin steps that you're planning ... the beer would probably clear all on its own, given time ... but if you're planning on doing both, I'd say after you've cold-crashed, when the beer is at it's coldest (and much of the other haze forming compounds will have sunk to the bottom, but the maximum amount of chill-haze will be showing itself in the brew) would be the best time to introduce your gelatine.

Cheers, PhilB

I don't do either, like lots of brewers.

Most of my brews are crystal clear within a week or two in the FV.

I tend to use kettle finings and a yeast with mid/high flocculation.
