Now the fun starts...got to get the hole done....I know the tank connector is 20mm...but the Tesco kettle elements seem to be around 38mm...& I've read that most guys use a 40mm hole..I just want to get it right first time...you only get one chance...measure twice & cut once as the old saying gos...
Any advice from you guys would be much appreciated... :thumb:

go 38mm less movement and leaks. I have done both the 38mm are so much better. You can always run it round with a file if it is too snug.

Oh and get a q max punch do not attempt to drill stainless, learn from my experience, it surface hardens and turns into a git.

Nice shiny :thumb:

+1 on the q-max cutter. I'm not exactly Geoff Capes, but they go through stainless like a hot knife through butter.

Thanks guys.. :thumb: just about to order the Q-max...the site I'm on have the 20mm...but no 38mm. they go 37.5mm then jump to 40mm.....may phone them tomorrow as they do stock 1.5 inch = 38.1 mm that would be a better job...

Must admit I was a little bothered going up to 40mm...it's just a tad to big for my liking...last thing you want is it not to seal.

Cheers...ye they seem to go 37.5mm then you have to jump to 1.5 inch (38.1mm) then back to mm ...back to imperial..so on.. that's the only way you can get near to the size you want...
Found this site that makes it a little easier to find the right one for the job...:thumb:

+1 on the Q-max cutter! I caused a right mess trying to drill my kegs with some bosch holesaws which cost a lot of money!
