I left in for 30 mins the scooped as much out as possible. My next brew I’m going to cut up some of the wife’s tights and bag them up individual so it’s easy to remove. I kegged it this weekend smells and tastes nice just not very strong at 3.5%. Hopefully give it a taste next week
 
Make sure you don't use the fishnets. So are you taking out the 60, 15 and 5min hops at flame out and then putting the flame out hops in on their own? I think I really over bittered lots of beers by leaving all the hops in after the boil.
 
Do you leave your zero minute hops in for a certain amount of time after flame out, or do you give them a stir and take them all out?
They stay in until the beer is cold enough to draw off and then they help filter out the trub. This only works if you're using (at least some) whole leaf hops rather than pellets.

Chuck the good lady in, tights and all, would be my advice. If she hasn't drunk the lot within a week then bottle what's left and resolve to do better next time.
 
The mrs hates the smell of beer and brewing in general. Might be easier to throw her out

Cheers, a bit corny but if it wasn’t for the folks on this forum I don’t think I would of taken the step away from doing kits. Now for the next brew, this one won’t last long
 
If you can leave some bottles of that another 4 weeks (I know, it's a big ask), that will be a little cracker of a beer.
 
I took dextrose as suffer so used dme instead as a late addition. I will see how it turns out. I fancy doing a stout next
My first ever brew was a stout lovely it was, came out at 6.8%ABV lovely cream head well chuffed i was....only issue after about 4 pints felt like you had bells phaulsy numb on or side of the face if your unsure what it is

Id gladly dig out the recipe if you want
 
Dextrose is a sugar, not a malt. You could just use ordinary table sugar, but you could leave it out altogether and just use another 120 g of base malt.
Crystal will darken you beer and make it taste heavier and sweeter. I think it might spoil the recipe. (although it might be a great beer).
I like using Crystal however in moderation like you say it darkens and sweetens it I normally use 50 50 being 50 Crystal and 50 rolled or fake oats which gives a good cream head and colours it well on my golden ales, dex I tend to not use as much these days as I find you get natural sweeteness from your grain...but hey that's just me and I'm happy with it acheers.
 
I've always understood 0min to be the moment I switch the heat off.
How long you leave it in is a matter for debate though!

Leave them in 30min and take them out and start chilling
Leave them in and start chilling straight away and take them out once the wort is cool
Leave them in and do no chill overnight
Etc etc etc

Personally I leave them 30 mins and then take them out....but happy to be corrected

Hmm, in the past doing all grain brewing I was always under the impression that at flame out its important to cool the wort as quickly as possible to pitch temp?. But seriously, to leave overnight?.
