I've got it into my head to make a CIP pump for my cornelius kegs as I'm an inherently lazy person and whilst they're easier to clean and fill than bottles, I still resent cleaning the buggers out! Anyway, I raked around in the attic and found a rather splendid magnetically coupled centrifugal pump which I bought years ago and squirreled away for just such an eventuality.
The pump will be perfect, I've designed a frame to hold it, found an old bucket to use as a sump/drain and all set to go, until it came to finding something to fit the push-fits on the pump. They're 1/2" JG female connects, and the cheapest I've found 1/2" tube to 1/2" hose barb is £37 for a pack of ten, plus postage!! My eyes nearly melted, thus was the offense caused to such a tight fisted yorkshireman! A hunt round the man-cave turned up no 1/2" tube which could be pressed into service, so I'll be raiding my dad's man cave on Tuesday night to see what he has, and failing that I'll be hitting the lathe!
By hook or by crook, I'll have a CIP system for my corni kegs and beer lines by the weekend!! Pics to follow when I get it sorted!
