Hi I am about to embark on brewing a few more gallons of TC and was wondering if you can use the bottles that cheapo water from supermarkets (i.e. the "table"water that costs about 10p a 2l bottle) come in to bottle?

Are they the same as the bottles that fizzy pop comes in or would they not withstand the pressure of carbonation?

Only use them if they are designed to hold pressure otherwise you could end up with a whole lot of mess.

As a general rule if they have a liquid a pressure in them when you buy them then they should be OK if not :nono: :nono:

That would be fine.

Personally I prefer drinking from a glass bottle. Raiding my local pubs glass bins at weekends means i have built up quite a stash of bottles to fill. Then you just need a capper.

With any clear bottle glass or plastic store them in the dark to avoid them becoming light struck. This is the advantage of amber glass beer bottles the beer doesn't become light struck (smells of cat pee or skunks)

I have a handy space in my loft which I will be storing my beer in from now on (since SWMBO decided storing my beer in the kitchen cupboard was not acceptable!) the average temp up there is around 10 degrees so should be quite good for maturing. I will be storing everything after brewing now for two weeks in the airing cupboard then moving up to loft after then for the remaining time.

Oh and the point of that rambling message was yes they will be kept in the dark for the whole time (until drinking of course)
