a burco boiler (simmerstat removed), 14 litre stainless steel pan with lid, BIAB bag, thermometer, refractometer, bottles, chemipro, patience, a tolerant wife.

£100 approx spent, three 40 pint brews where ingredients were £10 per brew = £130 for 120 pints, thereafter £10 per 40 pints.

improvements and further cost saving ideas welcomed.................
 
Buy big bags of grain. But not to the point where you realise you've got enough to make over 800 pints and you're actually trying to cut back on your boozing.
 
No one of them Grandfather thingys or similar

I only get 280 pints from a big bag of grain unless I make 2.3 % beer in the summer - going to Italy soon so cold fizzy virtually tasteless beer on the cards although hotel stocks beers from a local micro brewery .....
 
Perhaps not. Italy had a bit of a craft beer revolution about 15 years ago. Sadly it was just after the last time I visited and I was left drinking Peroni the whole time. But it went down well with a pizza in 35 degree heat.
