Hi 😀
I was wondering if anyone could help. I’m new to writing on forums and returning to home brew after about 3 years away.
I Decided to start with a Wherry kit cos I remember starting with one before. I transferred from primary fermenter to pressure barrel a week or so ago and decided today to check a little (was worried about pressure... once before had a faulty cap). Anyway, there was no pressure! I had followed instructions etc... so I tried to add a co2 bulb. At which point gas escaped from along the side seem of the barrel From a tiny hole near the top. The cap (I just bought it a few weeks ago) was ok I but think it’s probably from the barrel been in store In the garage.

My question is, if I buy a new barrel can I transfer to it and reprime it and maybe save the beer? Or do I have to start again?

I would say it is worth a go. There should have been enough CO2 in there to protect it from oxidising. Just leave it in there till you get anew barrel.
Possible you could use a soldering iron/ lighter to seal the pinhole at a pinch in the present circumstances.

I would really like to know where these tiny pinholes come from.

Brilliant thanks. When I reprime it, should I use as much sugar as I did the first time or less? I thought about the same and then stick it on the heat mat again for a few days?

I would chill it and give it some more co2.
Maybe someone more knowledgeable could advise you, but that is what I would do. More sugar may work but you would have to open the lid again.
If you use the co2 you can check for leaks straight away with soapy water.
