Campden tabs

Jus racked my first WOW into secondary fv added stabilizer and campden tabs. Can anyone tell me why they wont dissolve they are from wilkos.

You didn't crush them up fine enough. I use a baby-sized pestle and mortar.

Don't worry. I never bother adding campden when racking to a secondary and have never had a problem.

Crushing between two tablespoons works well too (a trick my vet showed to me!)

It was crushed between the spoons but still not fully dissolved

Did you add it to the racked wine /after/ racking?
What I do is put a bit into each bottle (or the whole crushed tab into a demi) and syphon onto it, then the turbulence of the incoming brew gets it nicely mixed in.
Don't worry about it, it'll almost certanly be absolutely fine.

They will disolve, even without crushing!

Stupid question time. The wow guide says to add a cam tablet each time you rack. Does this include bottling? :wha:

I always do. If you're adding sorbate to stop fermentation you need to anyway as sorbate won't work by itself.

I don't, but when you bottle try to direct the flow down the inside of the bottles so there is no splashing.
