I used a 50.57071.010.

There's loads on ebay ranging from £6 up to about £18.
The one i bought was brand new, but you you could tell it was probably old stock as the metal facing plate was a little dull.
This is hidden, so no bother.
They tend not come with a knob either, which can be bought for about £4.00

Its really easy to wire up.
Live and Neutral in, Live and Neutral out.

To be honest, it only really needs L&N in with L out.
But you'd have to wire N anyway, so might as well utilise it from the stat.

The only additional thing I did was to wire an earth to the metal frame of the stat.

Here is an image of my finished product.

Great idea that Keat64. The only complaint I have with my Ace is that it boils like a devil. It would be good to be able to tame it a bit. Thanks for the development and the idea.

It tamed mine.
My boiler is in warranty, i think if it was out of warranty, i'd have drilled a hole in the base and fitted it to the boiler, this would at least save on the additional components.

Great - I'm not sure what the warranty is worth considering that they were advising somebody whose boiler kept turning off to open the bottom and move bits around. My idea of warranty is that if it doesn't work they ship it back and give you another one.

Anyway - mine works great. Hope it continues like that. I've done 13 brews in mine. It turned off once and I whizzed the thermostat knob back and forth and it came straight back on. Fingers crossed mind -

Your device will save on power too. Win win!

My new simmerstat

Hi, I've picked up a 30L Buffalo GL348 and I'm going to fit one of these to it along with a SPDT switch so it can be switched from rolling boil to thermostat controlled. What is the pin assignment on the 50.57071.010 device?
