Baulox!! The boiler just gave up the ghost and I have 28l of stupendous IPA wort in there!! That will learn me to use those two cheap tesco kettle elements. They have done 6 brews and given up on this, the seventh.

Question: will it be salvageable if i go first thing in morning, buy two more cheap tesco elements, fit them and carry on. I know I'm replacing a failed system but I will build a better boiler after I get this brew done.......if it can now be rescued?

Yeah! Boiling will destroy the bad stuff, although I'm not sure what you can do about your hop schedule. Maybe just boil it up and resume at the time it packed up? :p

It was just approaching rolling boil so all the hop schedule was ahead of me. So, fix in morning and Carry On Brewing!

nowt wrong with tesco elements loads of us use em on here why yours last only 6 brews did you take the round disc out etc ??????

The elements were furred up. They came on this morning when I flicked the switches. Anyway, I turfed the wort into a bucket, cleaned the elements until shiny silver again and re-booted and whole thing went okay.

Give the elements a clean with lemon juice and a pot scrubber after each boil, stops the elements furring up.
