Thought I'd chuck a short post up for the brew i did yesterday and subsequent brews will go here too. 🤓

So yesterday i used my new Buffalo 40L boiler (had to move the thermostat in the end as it wouldn't maintain a rolling boil, but it's all good now) and boy, it's so much easier than trying to juggle a 5gal BRE using a 20L and 10L pans on the hob! Made the brewday so much easier, and had no worries about leaving it going while i snook in bits of the F1 race. Lol.

Brewing Elvis Juice from the DIY Dog book, made a few tweaks to get the numbers right, and in hindsight I probably needed more water. Started with 30L and after all losses ended up with about 22L in FV. Even after putting in another 1L water to get the OG down a touch as i overshot. Probably due to boil evaporation.

Couple of pics and the recipe attached.

Once the beer is fermented and dry hopped, I'll be adding grapefruit "stuff" when bottling. I'm not 100% sure which, or maybe some of both, of these, I'll have to add and then taste to see if it's enough.

I did add a couple of drops of the brewers best stuff to another homebrew and it was quite pronounced, so it will be a suck it and see when bottling. 👍

Hmmmm, interesting, where did you get those two from, as a lover of all things grapefruity i'd certainly be interested in trying something using those.

Stroll. :thumb:

So, I missed out on the update for the Elvis Juice clone, I put the rind of 3 grapefruit and 2 oranges in there FV when I dry hopped it which I wasn't actually planning to. I left for 4 days and then bottled it yesterday with some cold pressed extract on top. I did have a little sample of it before bottling (using my "chair on the table" technique lol) it is definitely grapefruity, tho lacked the "I've just eaten a fresh grapefruit" whack you get with Elvis Juice. Will see how it turns out in a week or two. Maybe they add a bit of juice too.

This morning I thought I'd bung on a N.W.S kit as really fancied making a Saison.
Came in at about 1.057, so should be in the 6.5 - 7% region. I stuck it in the airing cupboard to keep the temperature up, 12hrs later it's bubbling nicely and still at 28° as it was this morning. [emoji12]

I had toyed with using 100g of Citra instead of the supplied hops, but now decided I should leave the first batch as is. Means I need to get another one. Lol.

Also over the weekend, I bottled another beer I knocked up a few weeks ago, a basic session pale ale to test if I get off flavours from a simple un-changed water profile. I've been having some off putting flavours in a few of my lighter beers, but as I've now changed setup, I thought I'd do a basic, non dry hopped beer that I wouldn't care about sink pouring. Again, few weeks until I know how that turns out.

Busy homebrew bank holiday weekend done. [emoji106]

Been a while since I updated this, brewed a couple of thing over last month or so. Most notably a NW NEIPA from a recipe Adam from Baldy's brewery on YouTube. Turned out fantastic, and was the first beer I've put into my new kegs.

Bought 2 9L kegs and a soda stream adapter for the reg. All working good with the party tap. Wish I could have got 19L kegs but space is limited.

Also brewed a Citra Saison 01|01 clone, that's in the other keg and some bottles, but not tried that yet.

Last Sunday I finally put the Punk IPA all grain kit on, will be my last for a bit as the kitchen has now been ripped out. Have plenty of stock still tho. 🍺

Here's a few pics. 👍

Just a little update, not a lot of brewing been going on here as had no kitchen for a couple of months (floor finally going in tomorrow!). But, I during the down time I managed to build a fermentation fridge with the old one out of the kitchen.

The Punk kit turned out decent, keg nearly finished.

Stuck on a Young's American I.P.A. kit to test it out. (And a customary glass of that Punk kit while doing so) So far been holding temps spot on. Hopefully be crash chill and dry hopping in the next few days. [emoji106]
