If you went back to 2016, knowing what you know know, would you vote for or against Brexit? And how does this compare to how you voted before?

The reason I've suggested time travel is to avoid people wanting to honour the result of the referendum, and skewing the results.

Feel free to discuss why you have / haven't changed your mind.

Nothing has changed my mind so far, in fact it’s sent me further into the remain camp. The whole process after the vote has been an absolute farce.

I’ve also gone from being a firm Unionist to being on the fence about Scottish independence, as a result of the Brexit debacle.

Voted remain, would still vote remain. COVID has only strengthened my belief that we're better off as part of the EU should a crisis unfold, and the way the government has handled it doesn't fill me with confidence that they'll handle the exit competently.

It interesting that most people haven't changed their opinions and that 2/3's of people on here are aware of consequences of Brexit. 😂

I voted remain and still would do so. We have now left the the EU and are in the transition period with just a few short months till this ends. We still have no substantial trade agreements and apart from a lorry park in kent there doesnt appear to be any forthcoming benefits

You mean 2/3 of the 14 members that have voted in a forum that is hidden from the rest of the forum membership, maybe if it was in the snug where nearly all members could see it the vote would be different.

.

I will always vote for less people telling me what to do :laugh8: Eu, UK parliament, welsh government, City and county of Swansea, Gowerton council, one or 2 is fine anymore than than it's a gravy train for those extra layers. My preferred ones for the chop are Gowerton council & welsh government but I didn't get a vote on those. I suppose I could form a group to get rid of gowerton council and then we'd have no flowers on the lamposts or grass verges but there'd be £15 in my pocket ashock1. It's the self importance of these little councilors that get my goat.

Its the same here and this is the latest from our council, i don't know why they put them up but what i do know is hardly any of the people that live here will see them.

The only reason to go into town now is to -

Get a haircut. (in one of the many hairdressers i don't know how so many can make a living)

Get a coffee in one of the many coffee shops (including the big chain)

Get some fast food from one of the many shops selling it. (again i don't know how they all make a living)

Buy a house.

Go to one of the two banks that are left.

Go to the betting shop.

Go to the pub (the only good reason to go into town)

I cannot remember the last time i went into town to shop, we go to the next town where all the big name supermarkets are and i am not the only one, this is a complete waste of taxpayers money.

I voted remain, I'd do so again. Maybe if there was some decent leadership leaving the EU would have worked out to some degree, but Boris is gonna sell the country down the river and I see the UK becoming very similar to America with low food standards and little healthcare, and a disregard for the climate emergency facing us.

What's worse is we're gonna have to wait in line at passport control when we go to Belgium.

That seems completely at odds with our town - we have lots of little boutique and artisan shops, an old homewares shop where you can buy nails to the nearest 5 etc. We have a farmers market, a normal market twice a week, bands playing in the town square, pop up events... and the flowers! We've got a butchers, three (I think) bakeries, and a fishmonger and two grocers on the market.

And we're a commuter town right next to Milton Keynes, so you wouldn't think it.

We also have those but what % of those that live here go to town to go in them.

Its a small market town and on Thursdays and Saturdays the market used to take over the two main streets if you go into town now you'll be lucky to see 10 stalls.

We do have events to bring tourists in but again the majority of people who live there have seen it all before and don't bother its a shame really as it used to be buzzing.

Yes that's Woolworths in the first picture.

I did see umbrellas in caernavon and there were so many they formed a roof and deterred gulls from sweeping down and pinching your snack, but those look p155 poor in comparison.

I did a little digging and its an outdoor exhibition encouraging creativity in the town. (i call it a waste of time and money)

SPLASHES of colour have been dotted around Ulverston as part of a new outdoor exhibition encouraging creativity in the town.

Flying umbrellas, colourful cairns and three pianos have all been placed around various spots as part of Ulverston Community Enterprises’ latest exhibition.

The group is running a series of outdoor installations throughout August to bring some enjoyment into the town after the venue was forced to cancel the remainder of its events for 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic

Director Beth Kennedy said the installations are ‘bringing a splash of colour to the town’ for all passers-by to enjoy.

She said: “We all felt very strongly that we should be doing something in the town which promoted social activity, creativity and inclusivity, but in a safe way.

“We wanted people to enjoy this when they were out for a walk in the town.

“We decided to place three pianos in Canal Foot, Market Street and Ford Park for anyone to play on and enjoy.

“There’s umbrellas across Market Street and colourful cairns alongside the canal. It’s something to enjoy without going to the theatre or a festival which is creative. The response has been brilliant.”

We also have those but what % of those that live here go to town to go in them.

Town is always busy here. Well, not at the moment, obviously. We'd go into town on a saturday, go to the library, potter around the charity shops, go to the market for fruit and veg, to the specialist coffee roasting shop for some beans, sometimes walk along the canal, go for a piece of cake or get stuck for a picnic lunch.

Not sure we realise how lucky we are!

To get back on track, I voted leave, but would now vote remain. If only to save the amount of money that has been wasted discussing the matter.

No doubt the next statement will offend someone:

You shouldn’t knock Local Councils, as a Local Councillor once told me, “Adolf Hitler had to start somewhere”.

There was no plan associated with the original vote. It was mental.

Imagine doing that in the place you work. "Hey boss, can you approve a massive change to everything, but I'm not sure what exactly the massive change is yet, and what we are going to replace it with, or anything"

You'd be looking for a new job pretty quickly.

So I voted remain. As making no change, instead of blindly stumbling about in the dark making it up as you go along is sensible.

I'd like to say I could make a more informed decision all this time later... But it still seems as clear as mud.
