Ill add my 2pence worth here if no one minds.
If you want to add sugar to Dried yeast or a liquid yeast starter, fine it will work ok but YOU WILL NOT GET BEST RESULTS!
Treat Yeast like you would Children
Children fed on **** like Mcdonalds lots of sweets etc run around lots screaming have no attention span and after a wild frenzy tend to fall asleep mid afternoon and do nothing.
Yeast fed on simple sugars will do the same, and you will not get beer which is not fully fermented.
Feed a balanced diet with the correct nutrients and vitamins and children are much better behaved, they concentrate better and cause you less trouble, and tend do as instructed. Yeast also tends follow this trend.
