I'm going to be starting my 3 lager brew later today. I'm going for a wilko lager with free brewing sugar. My 2 Coopers lager have been bottled. The first will be all drunk by midweek (im o holiday this week). This will give me the bottles I need for the third brew.

I have a turbo cider on just now and have the ingredient to start my ginger beer. Both lust the 5 litres.

Hers hoping all will be well.

Good luck mate. Let me know how it compares to the coopers

Will do. It'll be tomorrow now when I put it on. I might be a while before I drink it as I still have 20 odd bottles of the first and 40 odd bottles of the second. I will taste one in a few weeks just to see.

I got a FV for £4.50 because the lid was missing from wilkos. :thumb:

My ginger beer is on. Dont hold out much hope as I didnt think it was very gingery. Heres hoping.

Put the Wilko lager kit on this morning. Topped up to 21 litres as the tin is a bit smaller than the coopers. Added the brewing sugar that I got free. The fermentation has started.

I'll keep you all informed how this goes. I was going to leave this in the Fv for two weeks, then batch prime and bottle.

Can I transfer this to a 2nd Fv with no lid while I wash and sterilise the other Fv before transferring it back over 20 minutes later. I dont want to risk wasting this brew. Its just that the cooper FV has a tap that makes it easier to bottle.

I wouldn't risk it. Don't want to risk getting too much oxygen in it. I have the same FV and am going to use it as a bottling bucket in future and get one without a tap to use as an fv. I'm using the "big bucket and aquarium heater" method of keeping it at 20 degrees so I don't want a tap, just incase.

Well this is the brew on its third day. It never had much of a Kräusen but looks to be fermenting away. It smells different from the coopers, not as nice but not bad either, just different.

As mentioned on your ginger beer post , stop peaking lol , just leave it be for 10 to 14 days then test with hydrometer , we have all had infected beer at some time just trying to save you the pain of throwing 1 away . :thumb:

thats 8 days in the FV and its down to about 1006. It looks a bit like cloudy **** at the moment, but I suppose it a light lager. It should clear up when I bottle it.

This one will probably be getting left for a while in the basement or garage.

Thats brew number 3 all bottled :thumb: Im a happy camper. I bottled my ginger beer as well. Its very dry with a kick.

I'll let you know how this tastes when I open one in a few weeks.

Well I tried a couple off bottles of my wilko brew. TBH its fine, but I'd rather spend th money on a better one. It lacks any real bite. Its easy to drink and at 27p a pint is a bargain (if you get the free sugar) but I'd rather pay 50p a pint for the coopers with brew enhancer.

I'll leave this to see if it gets better.

Well now on brew 4. Coopers lager using brew enhancer 1. Might try the dme next time the wilkos on special.

Gary.

My first brew was a youngs lager kit with 1kg brewing sugar which came out drinkable. Done a couple of other lager kits since using DME and brewing sugar with much better results. I will be bottling my wilko light lager tomorrow which I used 1kg muntons enhancer with a bit of sugar for a higher abv. Had a little taste and I think it's gonna be a nice pint.
All the best with your next brew.
