So, now I've bottled my apple and mango effort I had a spare demijohn, and after a short trip to the local supermarket I came back with some cartons of red grape, and a carton of blueberry juice that caught my eye.
So everything got cleaned and sterilized, at sat for some contact time with the sterilizing solution while I worked out how much sugar I'd need to add.
The grape juice had 39g of sugar per 250ml, making it 156g/l
The blueberry had 26.5g of sugar per 250ml, making 106g/l
So I figured I'd use litre of blueberry and 3.5l of red grape. That ment I'd have a sugar content of 652g for 4.5 litres. I wanted something 14-15% so I reckoned I'd need 1304g of sugar in 4.5lgiving me an addition of 652g to add
The sugar and 0.5l of grape juice went into a pan on the hob until dissolved. The rest of the juice was added to the demijohn along with a couple of tablets of yeast nutrient, a teaspoon of tannin and a wee bit of pectolase. The rest of the liquid was added had it cooled and it was given a good shake before adding the yeast dry. An airlock was fitted and it was put in the corner. I'll check it in a couple of weeks
