Bought some Demi Johns...

Bought 5 demi johns off facebook stuff for sale. Got 4 dark brown glass and 1 clear glass for £15.

However they need a good clean as they contain dust and cobwebs etc. What would be the best way to clean them?

fill them with a thin bleach solution and leave them a couple of days, rinse well then a few hours soak in something like VWP rinse well and away you go

Use oxyclean. tsp in each and fill up to brim. Leave for 24 hours then empty to 1/4 full. Add a 1/4 cup of rice and give a really good shake for a few minutes. That will clean off any residue, leaving them pristine clean. Then just sterilise with bleach and fill with must of your choice. :thumb:

Use baking soda or soda crystals, works very well for me, just lifts the dirt off with ease.

I had a similar problem. Filled with vwp and soaked overnight. Then vogourously rinsed out with fresh water. Jobs a good un.

All of my DJs are 2nd hand and needed a good clean. I washed them out several times, soaked them in VWP for a day then washed out with a DJ cleaning brush and rinsed out.
