Was just wondering how many bottles full of homebrew people on average have at any given time?
At the moment I have 15 but after I've completed these 5 kits I'm hoping to have over 200.

Also where have all your bottles been sourced from? - mine have all been collected from the local village hall glass recycling.

If you do kegs then state how many pints/litres of homebrew you usually have in kegs at any time on average.

Thanks was just interested to know.

I peak at 200 but at the moment it's a lot less than that, about 100 empties waiting to be filled!

I get mine from the bar which is about 10 yards from my front door...

I reckon I have about 140 - or enough for about 3 complete 23L brews. I plan to expand this because I want to leave the beer for 40 days to mature, and I want to hold on to some so I build up a selection.

nobyipa has a very impressive collection.

before I stopped the last time (just started again after about 2 years off) I used to have about 200 litres which I just kept rotating what I was drinking was always at least 6 month old don't think i'll get back up to that much again but you never know. I use PET bottles and also magners that I got from my local years ago quite handy as they kept the boxes for me as well

Thanks for starting this, it has prompted me to do a stock check.

I have to confess that I don't actually drink much beer, current stock is 122 pints plus a couple of half Cornelii. Empty bottles up the shed would bring total to about 200 and all came from pubs or other recycling facilities. I only use brown proper pint bottles and think I have now given away or recycled any 500ml bottles.

Wine in progress (i.e. not fully cleared or final racked) 68 litres.

Wine in bottles: 203.

Empty wine bottles up the shed: plenty, boxes of the things.

Wine just sitting around maturing in bulk: 265 litres (59 gallons, 350 bottles).

So we're ok up to Christmas 2015 if I never start any more.

I've only ever bottled as I tend to drink at other peoples houses so its easier to transport/give away.

I have about 300 bottles in all shapes and sizes from britvic tonic bottles, Glass Coca Cola Bottles, Mangers, Cidre, Koppaberg, Bulmers, Loads of wine bottles, Sparkling water, 70cl and 1.5l spirit bottles.

I currently have 35 cider, 38 Pilsner, 7.5l skittles flavour wash, A few others with wash and still a fair few empty ready for my cervaza and whichever wine I try next.

I have the advantage of being a restaurant manager so its easy to collect them and take them home. Not so easy to clean them all :(

I was given another 100 at the weekend, so it's got to be about 400 now, about half of which are 300/330ml for the Belgian brews. Only a hundred odd are full and I need some more brew days to get stock to a level where it can mature for ages.

Storage is a problem. I need more crates and shelving.

Moley - I have 38 brown pint bottles. I made new seals recently out of Vossy's tubing. Not used in anger yet since but looks to have done the job well.

Seals? :wha:

I mean crown capped pints, Magner's (before they went light weight), older Bulmer's (before they changed shape and went clear) or the ciders they sell in Aldi and Lidl.

Ah, sorry. I thought you meant these (click)

I normally have 4 x containers in the garage full of bottles, about 22 in each:

These are 35L "Really Useful" storage boxes, which are tall enough to accept most bottles, plus have reinforced bottoms so are stonger than others I've tried.

Now that is a good idea. Any ideas on how much each box costs. I would probably have to spray paint them or something because I only have clear bottles. I will defo be getting me summa those.
Thanks

No problem.

That's a lot of wine you've got There. How much do you usually drink a week?
Sounds like your sorted for a while now.

I have seen nobyipa's collection before and it is mind blowing!

I must have 200+ bottles mostly clear glass as I put all new brews in big cardboard boxes at the back of my garage.
Xmas is a great time for new bottles, as well as my own ales I buy from Tesco's offers, I make a point of inviting my
friends round who drink bottled ales and relieving them of there recycling job :D

i've got 5 crates at the moment, 24 300ml bottles in each one (as that is what i can easily get in the Netherlands), special for beer bottles, so they stack easily. ~50 bottles of Better Brew IPA and ~40 of Brewferm Bock are conditioning in them right now and have a crate of empty bottles left for a new brew to be filled soonish :)

Total bottle stock is about 170 or so (all 500ml). Mostly bought from Ampulla although I have added a few from bought beers where the size and shape matches the main stock. Thinking about building a stock of 330ml bottles so I can do some stronger brews although goodness only knows where I'd store them!

At the moment I have about 80 filled with drinkable beer and another 40 or so conditioning.

They were in the Homebase sale last Xmas, tenner each I think. Much better than any other boxes I've tried.

Mine are full of clear bottles. I'm not sure I buy the whole "you mustn't use clear bottles" thing, I've been using them for years - they're usually in the dark....fridge, garage, under the stairs...it isn't often you leave them exposed to full sunlight for weeks on end. Mind you, it isn't often we get weeks of full sunlight in this country lol. :D

I have probably 600-700 brown bottles usually have 400+ full bottles + cider and wine.

And before you ask no I am not a heavy drinker I like my beer matured and I also like a selection of ales so I always have a stout pale and bitter plus a few other styles always in stock.
