Hi folks.

I've got a can of Cooper's IPA ready to go and 100g or so of cascade pellets lying around. Is it possible to boil some of the wort with some of these pellets to get some increased bitterness and hoppy flavour, or am I barking up the wrong tree here by suggesting this method? Basically I mean as an alternative to simply dry hopping. Any advice is gratefully received.

Hi , you don't need to boil the contents of the can but you can boil some water and use the hops and then afterwards simply chuck it in the fv . Don't over do it though as this may unbalance the bitterness ratio , boiling for 60 plus mins will be bitter while 15 mins aids aroma and dry hops aids flavour . You also need a good filter as hop pellets dissolve into mush . Go easy on the amount you use , i would recommend a quarter of the amount a similar type of beer in the recipe calls for as your kit has hops already added

+1 Unless you're looking for a Hop Bombed IPA
