My god that takes me back. Used to be an avid RPGamer years ago. Call of Cthulu was a regular one along with Runequest, Twilight, Space Opera and Palladium.

I play Call of Cthulhu every month with a group of 5 or so friends. It's one of the few things that gets me out being social.

We played Dixit a few months back at my son's (full-on gamers they are, have a weekly Games Night at theirs) - it's a very cool game. As described, quite pictorial. Wonderful rather surreal imagery on some of the cards.

Best board games I have played are ones my mum had as a kid.

Not sure if anyone knows/remembers:

Buccaneer- pirate based board game where you sail to collect treasure
Scoop- newspaper based board game where you complete a newspaper, calling up the editor to get articles accepted or rejected
Battle of little bighorn- cowboys and indians (native americans) based game using plastic models
Air charter- based on moving good around the pacific

No, it’s ok. I know I did mention “Boardgames” but pretty much anything that’s not sitting in front of a screen counts lol It’s just good to do something different and a lot of the people I know who game drink Ales/Craft Beers so the two go hand in hand

Not sure if I mentioned this earlier I’m currently playing “Alone Against the Flames” out of the starter set. Just trying to work my head round Combat

another vote for call of cthulhu from me. Started in the 80s and got back into it about 4 years ago. Great atmospheric game. The American 1920s setting lends itself to lots of time in speakeasies. Great fun.

I love the Xcom PC games. They have a board game out but it's pretty hard to come by. I wouldn't mind playing it but none of my friends are interested, even if Icould get my hands on a copy.

I played it and it was pretty good. It has a companion app which makes it more fun if anything and definitely makes each game different

I finished the Solo scenario “Alone Against the Flames” last night and I’m going to be hooked now

Have you played the PC game? Is it the same sort of thing? Destroy the aliens, protect your base, research new tech etc.

I’ve never played the Video Game but from what I remember of the board game you’re getting attacked by Aliens and have to make decisions quickly.

If I had the money I’d buy it, then you can work on finding people to play it with?

Any fellow gamers out there? I was playing Dobble and Sushi Go last night with the Missus and my Niece whilst trying my Lager.

What’s your favourite games at the moment? Get anything new for Christmas?

Loving Dobble - my 3yo just about gets in but my 5 yo is better than most of the adults - had a good few extended family games of it over Xmas and every enjoyed it.

5 second rule is also another good family game that is pretty 'fair' across the ages. I also get a mouse trap game just before Xmas - not the old one with a tower and stuff to build, but one where you have to press the trap. Not sure of the proper name but we all love it, though sadly the build quality of the whole thing is pretty cheap. Hope it lasts!
