An unexpected expense for me when I finally laid eyes on my pots and bench.

£100 for a waste skip. and two days of work ruthlessly throwing " junk " from out of the garage !

Glad I did it. To have a place where they can be set up permanent, to be able to brew in Peace. No moans from the family about the mess and smells in the kitchen....To have my " own " brewing space....

A place where shiny's can roam free..................ha haaa.

Ruthlessly throwing out stuff is the right word.. BUT......

I might need that sometime...

Ooh where's that rope..... Oh bugger I threw it out...

My junk pile, er... I mean garage/workshop/stove repair shop/storage facility  might have to be emptied if I can't get away with brewing in the kitchen

Just paid 103 euros for both pots delivered, woohoo brewery phase two initiated

I'll check out hop and grape now
I got this one, (reduced as ordered no legs or handle). My thermopot needed a fb with a diameter of 345mm, but you should check yours when you get it. I made up a template from cardboard to check the size before ordering :thumb:

Thanks very much Joe :thumb:
I was thinking I would wait till it got here before ordering a FB,thanks for the tip, and all your other help today  :D

It would be awkward trying to fit copper tubing into some sort of manifold in a round tun

I followed Vossy's 'how to' exactly to the letter and I must say it works extremely well :thumb:

Obviously it's your build so do it to what suits you :thumb:

Oh and good luck with building it, it's great fun doing it.

Ok I'm going to need other bits n bobs when I get all me pots together

Apart from the forum sponsors which I have already bought my 50 litre pot from, are there any other places online that i should know about that have various pieces of stuff I might need?

I know about:

Angel home brew
The hop and grape
The Forum sponsors 5

:D

I got my taps from BES, nuts and bolts from ebay :thumb:

Edit: JB weld from ebay too, but now found it in a local hardware store :thumb:

I'm thinking of 3 piece taps with a bulk head fitting like on the malt miller, do you know the stock codes on BES? as their website is weird

I thought this was going to be about going blind from drinking moonshine.
When I first saw the topic title I thought it was going to be about methanol and went into "delete / warn / ban / kill" mode

Then I read the original post, realised he was cleverly playing with words and relaxed.

I didn't use a bulkhead, I used a ½” brass nipple (6576)

I never gave it a thought about moonshine, but yeah I'm clever :D :D

Thanks joe :D

While out today a 13kg propane bottle just seemed to find its way into my boot
Had to pay the £35 cylinder charge but hey ho.
Now all I have to get is the gas hose and burner ring and regulater. I've decided to go gas as my stove just doesn't have the punch for a 50litre pot and I tried insulation last night which didn't do jot!

I didn't want all that messing about with electric and holes and water and running extensions from two circuits, and if I try biab then I don't want the bag catching on the elements. :D

What size burner should I go for? To boil a 50 and 33 litre pot?

Could I ask what other bits and pieces you bought to complete your tap :D ?

My shineys came today :D

Only ordered Thursday, and came today (Monday)

My 35 litre thermopot doesn't have a tap, so I've got a choice of side or bottom drain on that... How would you do a side fitting tap on a thermopot?

Just got to decide on my tap setup and which taps to buy, and which mash tun gubbings setup to go for, (false bottom or copper pipe with slits) and I'm in business :D

I've also received a 21mm q.max cutter.

Now what to do!!!

It feels weird and scary knowing I am about to cut holes in them!

:D

Luively Jubbly.....

keep your hand steady and don't let the drill/cutters wobble....ha haaa ( I bottled out and had holes cut professionally )

I done it exactly per Vossy's build, which I believe has all the parts listed. :thumb:
